About
Gabriel Moraes is a Brazilian guitarist, composer and educator who has been based in Vienna, Austria since 2015. He blends the tradition of northeastern culture with the freedom of European jazz to innovate in his music. Gabriel is an artist endorser of the world-renowned guitar brand, Ibanez Guitars and the prestigious jazz guitar strings brand Thomastik-Infeld Vienna.
As a musician, he has collaborated with important names in jazz, Brazilian music, and the European/Austrian scene, including Chico César, Vincent Segal, Doug Hammond, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Aydin Esen, Phil DeGreg, Jorge Helder, Alejandro Chiabrando, Mark Rapp, Christoph Cech, Stephan Braun, Peter Herbert, Per Mathisen, Kiko Freitas, Pascoal Meirelles, Waldonys, Jorge de Altinho, Genival Lacerda, Eliezer Setton, Zé Calixto, and others. He has performed at major clubs such as Porgy & Bess (Austria), The Dome & The Jazz Cafe (United Kingdom), and Tollhaus (Germany), as well as at festivals in England, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Italy, and other countries.
Currently, Gabriel is working on the production of his album “Entre” with the Gabriel Moraes Trio, which will be recorded in Vienna and released in 2024.
